Little Boots – Meddle

Listening to Meddle, I can appreciate any Girls Aloud comparisons. This track has that engine rev punctuation which would usually involve the Girls getting their buttocks out in some form, but hopefully Little Boots doesn’t feel the need to do the same. Victoria Hesketh seems like the kind of girl to let the sampler and synth speak for themselves. And, with a little help from Joe "Hot Chip" Goddard, they do.
Meddle is dramatic and intense – hey, it even has a monk chant interlude – but also has enough bleeps, whirrs and chugs to keep the colourfully dressed, headphone-clad crowd happy. It’s dark and industrial sounding - maybe the conveyor belt clanking effects have something to do with it - and the video will undoubtedly feature a rather striking lady with very heavy eyeshadow and a PVC catsuit climbing up air conditioning vents, or something. You know the sort.
