Dalston’s James Yuill returns with First In Line, the second cut from his sophomore LP, Movement In A Storm. In 2008, Yuill rose to prominence out of the Moshi Moshi stable and soon became renowned for his marriage of folky vocals and electronic production. Unsurprisingly, again, synths and beats form the landscape from which this track emerges. Overlaid with soft, almost timid vocals, the combination some how falls short of the seamless marriage he has managed to create on past outings.

While his endeavour to create something other than electro by numbers should be commended, Yuill’s lyrics fail to stir any real emotion and ultimately the song’s digital bleeps and blips leave you craving something with a little more substance.
