It's taken a little longer than we hoped, but the Fugitive Motel Review of the Year 2011 has finally landed. Inside, we profile four acts that have made our 2011 and we believe are destined for further success in 2012: Tune-Yards, Dry the River, The History of Apple Pie and Ghosting Season.
Inside, you'll also find the annual snarky slogfest that is the Motelvision Song Contest 2011 (complete with Motelvision Readers' Choice poll results), our cartoon Nicki's Minajerie - with beautiful illustrations from Tina and a shonky storyline from Kate - a few top five lists and a little word about why we're planning a short series of charity quizzes this year and how we'd love your help in recommending venues and getting them set up.
Physical copies (of which we've hand-assembled and numbered 200 as per usual) are sneaking into outlets in Manchester, London, Yorkshire and hopefully Wales over the next few days - the list will be updated as they arrive:
Rough Trade East, Dray Walk, off Brick Lane, London E1
Piccadilly Records, Oldham Street, Manchester M1
Common, Edge Street, Manchester M4 (coming soon)
Bungalows and Bears, Division Street, Sheffield S1
Showroom & Workstation, Paternoster Row, Sheffield S1
Rounder Records, Brighton Square, Brighton BN1 (coming soon)
+ locations in Leeds and Cardiff to be confirmed very soon.
If you're interested in having a few copies in your record store, bar or independent establishment then please email us using the contact form and we'll send you a few copies. We're particularly interested in hearing from you if you're in Scotland - we've never sent any copies up there before primarily because we don't know where they should go!
If you're outside of these cities (or the UK) then please click on the front cover image above to be spirited away to Issuu, where you can read the 2011 Review of the Year and all previous years' publications.
