Ah, Side B of Benjamin’s Bestival mixtape…probably the only complilation to feature Roxy Music, The Prodigy and Rolf Harris(!).

With just over two weeks to go until the Motel heads to Robin Hill Country Park en masse, here’s the first half of Benjamin’s mixtape – featuring Dizzee Rascal, Fever Ray and Darwin Deez…

16.00: Unlike the vast majority of Manchester, I’m struggling to get into Delphic despite my best efforts. Their debut album isn’t even here yet, and everyone’s already raving about them. Today’s performance doesn’t quite prove convincing enough for them to have a guaranteed place on my personal list of 2010 ones to watch.

Typical Bestival fancy dress day madness is in full flow, and I’m loving it.

00.30: “Seven times three,” someone in Blue Camping remarks, before looking me in the eye and shouting “YOU! 7×3!” Easy, Vorderman! Bloody hell. “21?” I reply with some trepidation. My mathematical prowess is rewarded with a standing ovation from four complete strangers. That’s a relief. KG

10.00: The Motel is preparing itself once again for a delightful time at Bestival, and our number are so excited that we just can’t wait to get onsite, so at least five of us are on the move at the crack of dawn. KG
